Arrival in Shanghai.

Arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Saturday morning.

Hui En is excited with the various Lunar New Year decorations which can be seen in all public places now. Here is a photo of her in Tampines 1. (don’t know why she chose to strike a ballerina pose)

I was at the COSEM office at Sungei Kadut for my Fire Practical Certification. Here are some shots taken from the training.

Hui En has requested on numerous occasions that we take her to the beach for a picnic and an opportunity to build sand castles. Her request was finally granted today.

We initially wanted to get a sand castle set from the neighbourhood shops, but Wei Wei had difficulty sourcing for it. So there was no other alternatives other than getting the sand castle set at East Coast Park. There, we found Castles Can Fly. So I got the cheapest set available there, which is the Beachwork Tools Deluxe Set. Hui En loved her set very much. So much so that she asked me on our trip home after the picnic whether her castle set was packed properly and that it was all brought back home.

We had a fun time today. We left when the sky was already dark. Time to head for home for shower and sleep, especially for Hui En, whom on numerous occasions today, mentioned that she was very happy.

Here are some snapshots taken today.

Hui En with Yen, her cousin. Hui En is not confident enough to wade into the lapping water, so she clinged to Yen.

Here is a shot taken while Hui En was flying a kite. The kite can be spotted in the photo as a tiny dot at the upper portion of the photo.

Life in Ipoh, Malaysia.

Hui En is accustomed to the life in Singapore. Where there are no land at the front of the door.

When she was back in Ipoh for the Chinese New Year holidays, she enjoyed doing tasks that kids would normally shun. For example, watering the plants, cleaning the porch and washing the car. However, for Hui En, it was a rare chance for her to perform such ‘chores’. She enjoyed doing them, and would request to do them on a daily basis.

Here are some shots taken when she was cleaning the car.

Hui En again.

As requested by Hui En, we caught the movie, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” today at GV Tampines. We enjoyed the movie.

After the movie we adjourned to Time Zone arcade for some fun.

Below is a photo of Hui En on a car ride.

Today we had our Manitou Recovery Practice. This is the last weekend practice before the actual race weekend. The will be more practice runs before the actual race days.

Below are some shots taken on a sunny day.

3. Recovery training in progress. 4. Race Control.

Today, I ‘flew’ for the first time in the Singapore Flyer. ‘Flying’ along with me were Wei Wei, Hui En and Wei Wei’s brother. Here are some shots taken during the ‘flight.’

L: Family shot before the ‘flight.’ R: Shot Wei Wei and I. Taken by Hui En using a Canon IXUS camera.

I like the next photo a lot! Wonder where she learnt this pose:

Wei Wei decided some time ago that we should make a trip to Redang Island. So, she made arrangements for us all to make our way down to the island in May. Attached are some shots taken there.

After returning from Redang, Hui En was struck by chicken pox. (but she seemed to take it well, though…)

And finally, the trip back to Singapore.
